A Tried And True Method For Easy SEO Traffic To Your Blog Or Website

06 June, 2011 Author : Emil Yau Report It!

Every online blog or site needs traffic. That is the most important aspect for a successful blog. Without readers and customers, your blog will go nowhere. If your blog is personal, getting readers motivates you to blog more! If your blog is for business, then readers are potential customers and that is necessary for survival of your business.

Here is an easy method for SEO traffic and getting customers: 1) Set up your online presence. This can be a website or blog. 2) Write articles a.k.a. blog posts for your blog and website 3) Post articles to various article directories with links back to your blog or website

This method of getting traffic is called "Article Marketing" and is one of the tried and true effective ways to promote your website and get traffic.

Here are the steps in detail:

1) Set up a website.

There are many free blogging website out there. Some of my favorites include: blogger.com, typepad.com, livejournal.com, and wordpress.com. You can definitely use these as your online presence. For a small extra charge you can integrate your own domain name as your blog. This is important if you want to create a brand. Sometimes you will want to have even more functionality and control in which case a self-hosted site works best. My preference is for self-hosted Wordpress sites.

2) Write articles a.k.a. blog posts for your blog and website You will want to post at least one article per week to your blog. Preferably you will post twice a week, with one post being of high quality (your article) and the second can just be about something else. The more you post, the better

You can "drip feed" your posts too. That means you can write them all at one time and then schedule them when you want them posted. You can write all 52 posts right away and then schedule them once a week for example.

3) Post articles to various article directories with links back to your blog or website

Think of article directories almost like libraries. You can place your article there to be found. You usually do not want to post links in your articles as article directories may then reject them. However you are usually allowed one or two links in a "resource box" or "author box". Those links should point back to your website.

This is good for two reasons. The first is that people who read your articles on the various article directories now know where to find you. The second is that as search engines see more backlinks to your site it will increase your site in search rankings.

One important tip on this is to use targeted keywords as your anchor text when providing links in your resource box. This will tell the search engines which keywords you want to rank for.

That is the simple part of article marketing. As you get more experienced you will find other useful tips useful for you. As an example, ways to write your article titles to get people to want to read them. How to write your articles and resource boxes to get a higher clickthrough to your site. The different article directories to submit to is also something you will learn. Some get more traffic than others. How to utilize links back to your own site will also be something to learn. Those are all intermediate to advanced topics which you can learn about more once you get familiar with the basics of article marketing.

Good luck with your SEO traffic plans and utilizing article directories to get more traffic to your site!
